St. John's celebrated National Poetry Week with the amazing poet Paul Lyalls.
In celebration assembly, Mr Lyalls performed some poems from his new collection, which is currently in publishing. The children especially enjoyed listening to a poem all about food - teachers that eat pizza and porridge that gives you more knowledge... Oh how we laughed.
Mr Lyalls visited each classroom and inspired the children to collaborate their ideas to create some fantastic poems. The themes varied from love, friendship and justice to courage, bravery and respect. The children reflected on our school values and how they linked to the poems they had written.
It was a day filled with thought-provoking conversations and many laughs. Thank you to Paul Lyalls for the inspiration - we hope to see him again soon!
