Geography

At St John's School, geography education is an immersive experience that delves into both the physical and human aspects of our world. Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on developing place and locational knowledge in line with the requirements of the national curriculum. Students engage in regular fieldwork in our local area, with frequent visits to Hilly Fields and Forty Hall. These field trips provide students with a hands-on understanding of geographical concepts and allow them to witness firsthand the interplay between human activities and the environment.

Moreover, our curriculum extends beyond the borders of our local area. Through our partnership with the Bridge of Hope charity in Uganda, students at St John's gain a global perspective on geographical issues. They are encouraged to develop a deep appreciation for the world we live in and understand their role in shaping its future. This cross-cultural connection fosters empathy, global awareness, and a sense of responsibility towards creating a sustainable and inclusive world.
