Geography

In the teaching of geography, we enable the children to explore the world around us in greater depth, developing both their human and physical geography.  Within this we put a large emphasis on ‘place and locational’ knowledge so the children have a more comprehensive understanding of the world around them.

Our children acquire a range of fieldwork skills throughout their time at St. John’s with regular practical activities in the nearby Hillyfields a real favourite.

We recognise the importance of children understanding the locality we live in but also varying locations in the U.K. and around the world, including a study of Uganda supporting our close links with the Bridge of Hope charity.  With this knowledge our aim s for every child to flourish within geography acquiring the skills and knowledge to equip them in the next stage of learning.
